I had the privilege to interview model Destiny Marie' who basically stumbled into her career. She has not been modeling long, but I do see her modeling career heading to great heights. Not only is Destiny Marie' beautiful, she's also confident. Here is her interview.
Jchell: Where are you from?
Destiny Marie': I was born in Los Angeles California, moved around a bit then settled in Tampa Fl.
Jchell: Where did you go to high school/college?
Destiny Marie': University of South Florida
Jchell: What are some of your main interests and hobbies?
Destiny Marie': Working out, cooking & baking, reading
Jchell: How long have you been modeling?
Destiny Marie': 18 months
Jchell: What was it like starting out as a model?
Destiny Marie' : I just wanted some professional sexy pictures for my husband … (true story) the photographer asked me can they submit the images for publication and was very apprehensive due to my size. Those pictures where published and I kept hearing people say that I should make a go of it.
I have always felt a little slighted by magazines that want to sell clothing to me, but will not show me those clothes worn by anyone my size. It has been a big no no to show women of size in a magazine for so long that people think that it's normal to show plus size clothes worn by size 0 models. So I’m going to work on being published more and push those boundaries.
Jchell: Have you been published in any magazines?
Destiny Marie': Yes…
On Point Magazine May 2015-Issue #3
Enchantment Desert Pin-Ups Magazine June 2015
On Point Magazine July 2015- Issue #5
Pllush Life Magazine August 2015 Pinup Edition
Black Pinup Magazine 2015- Issue #11
Big Beautiful Bombshells 2016 Calendar
Curvy Ka-uute 2016 Calendar (March)

Jchell: Besides modeling, have you done any acting?
Destiny Marie': I haven’t done any acting yet, but I have been approached by two TV shows.
Jchell: Let's talk about your beauty regimen: How do you keep your hair and skin looking healthy?
Destiny Marie': My hair is care for by a professional Sharece Young @ Hair Youphoria Salon.

2nd dry & itchy scalp shampoo to tackle heavy dandruff.
3rd moisturizing shampoo.

Step 2 toner
Step 3 apply a under the eye cream
Step 4 apply daily moisturizer
Tip…I always wash makeup off at the end of the day.
Jchell: What are your favorite fashion trends you love?
Destiny Marie': Here is the trend I love.. I’m a healthy plus size woman. I am in the gym 3 to 4 times a week and I eat healthy meals… much more often than not. Fashion trend? Bright, attractive, colorful workout attire. A healthy plus sized woman who loves herself… what a trend to follow.
Jchell: Every girl has a special “can't live without this” in her closet, what's yours?
Destiny Marie': A great pair of skinny jeans & a crisp white tank top.
Jchell: Who’s your favorite photographer(s)?
Destiny Marie': 3.14 Photography Lloyd Berry
Jchell: Knowing what you know, what advice would you give to other models trying to establish themselves?
Destiny Marie': I have managed to go further with my not tall enough, plus size self, in 18 months in a tall, thin, model world than women taller, prettier, and definitely thinner by following one simple rule ALWAYS. Be a beautiful, pleasant, being. Do Not Act like a pleasant person, BE someone that others feel good to be around. I am confident in the beauty that people see because the beauty they see is in me and that is what should come through to the camera. It is my belief that an “ugly” face is made beautiful by inner beauty of the person, not the makeup on the person.
Jchell: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Destiny Marie': Sure, I am not promoting a lifestyle of gluttony and laziness. I am plus size, but I am a gym rat. I am plus size, but I eat healthy meals daily. I am plus size by choice, I like me this way. I am also healthy, not as a matter of opinion, but as stated by my doctor.
So, I will say it again because this is what I most want to represent, I am a healthy, plus size model and I love me.
I would also like to mention an organization that represents my philosophy on life’s journey. Live Laugh Workout in Color is about dealing with your weight, your body image, your struggle. Living with the size that your, Laughing through the struggles, working out to reach the size you want and doing it all in “look at me go”, bright, attractive, colors.
