I remember the days being younger wearing shorts on a hot summer day not having to worry about the shorts I wore (as long as they covered my butt). But hey, back then I was slimmer and now that I have a fuller figure I have to be cautious about what kind of shorts I choose to wear (short shorts are not in my future, lol).
Let me keep it real with you Divas. As plus size women we have thighs, big legs, ham hocks or whatever you want to call them we all know in the summertime they have a tendency to rub together. Of course with all that rubbing it can get uncomfortable. So here are my few tips for purchasing those shorts.
•If you don't like feeling hot buy a size up. This will give you the extra room for your thighs to move with ease and to reduce friction, ouch! Buying a size up will also reduce the dreaded muffin top and reduce creasing in the crotch/leg joints.
•Buy one inch longer because most shorts are made of cotton and cotton shrinks. You can cuff the legs of the shorts which is trendy.
•Definitely stay away from pleats! Even one pleat in front of the shorts will add bulk and make you look larger. Also, darker color shorts will make you look slimmer.
The best tip of them all, take time to try on your shorts before purchasing them. The mirrors in dressing rooms are there for a reason and if necessary ask for an opinion. I hope my tips will help, so go ahead big leg girl and purchase those shorts!
