I had the opportunity to interview the lovely model and pageant queen Tabitha Robinson. I have known Tabitha a little over a year and I met her on Facebook. Tabitha is a very ambitious woman. Not knowing how I was impacting her desire to become a plus size model, Tabitha finally contacted me. As our friendship nourished, I gave her tips on what I did to become a plus size model. It did not take her long to grow and build her reputation. I began seeing photo shoot photos on social media, cover model for magazines, and eventually she started doing pageants. I give her credit getting involved in doing pageants because a lot goes on in the pageant world verses being a model. Being determined as she is, her passion even grew beyond modeling and pageants to starting her own t-shirt line called “2 Be You.” I spoke with Tabitha and she advised me that her t-shirt line might have the opportunity to be sold in Walmart stores. Tabitha plans on sending me a t-shirt in my favorite color and I will post a photo to my blog once it arrives. Here is Tabitha Robinson’s interview.

Jchell: Where are you from?
Tabitha: Flight Michigan

Jchell: Where did you go to high school/college?
Tabitha: South Western High School/graduated from Mr. Davids School of Cosmetology 1999 and Baker College graduated 2005 as a CNA.

Jchell: What are some of your main interests and hobbies?
Tabitha: My hobbies include working out, spending time with my family, love to dance, spend to socializing with friends.

Jchell: How long have you been modeling?
Tabitha: I have been modeling 2 years to date.

Jchell: What was it like starting out as a model?
Tabitha: It was a little difficult, but you taught me the way to go. I also did research and finding out on my own how to really get in to it and put in foot work because it's more than taking pictures.

Jchell: Let's talk about your beauty regimen: How do you keep your hair and skin looking healthy?
Tabitha: My hair right now is natural underneath the sew-in, but I wash my hair with Cantu which is very good for hair growth. For my skin I use baby lotion, drink plenty of water, and try to eat healthy.

Jchell: What are your favorite fashion trends you love?
Tabitha: I love the trendy clothes from Torrid, Avenue, & Catherine’s because they cater to plus size women and their clothes feel and look good on plus size women.

Jchell: Every girl has a special “can't live without this” in her closet, what's yours?
Tabitha: What I can't live without is a black beautiful dress, I have to have a black dress!

Jchell: Who's your favorite photographer?
Tabitha: My favorite photographer is Aundre Dunston Epic Media Photography. I love his work!

Jchell: Knowing what you know, what advice would you give to other models trying to establish themselves?
Tabitha: The advice I would give to other models is do your research and connect with good people. Find out what type of modeling you want to do because there are all types of modeling, like promo or fashion runway. You have to do what suits you the best and not others, you know what you're capable of. Be yourself, have confidence. Yes, it's hard work and determination, but you can do or be anything you want to be. You just have to work at it, it won't come to you, you have to go get it!

I had the pleasure of interviewing the designer of 1246, Danni Rokmor. I was first introduced to Danni via LinkedIn where I noticed her brand of t-shirts, hats, and swimsuits. I started taking notice of 1246 on other social media outlets drawing attention to the plus size community. I observed other plus size ladies purchasing her brand. I was curious about 1246 so I had to take a look at her website. What is 1246? 1246 is a clothing line that specializes in the couture fashion industry that will bring a more sexy, classy, and better style of clothing to our plus size ladies. I also learned that Danni lost her mother in 2009 and named her company after her mother’s birthday, December 1946. I was moved by what I read because I started my company on my mother’s birthday. Here is Danni’s interview.

Jchell: Where are you from?
Danni: Fayetteville, North Carolina

Jchell: Where did you go to high school/college?
Danni: Pine Forest High School

Jchell: What are some of your main interests and hobbies?

Jchell: What are your favorite fashion trends you love?
Danni: I love the Rompers!!

Jchell: Every girl has a special “can't live without this" in her closet, what’s yours?
Danni: My heels lol!!

Jchell: Knowing what you know, what advice would you give to other designers trying to establish themselves?
Danni: BE PATIENT!! I can't stress that enough, I had to learn that myself that being patient and humbling yourself can prepare you for many things. Also never stop no matter how many NO's you get still keep going and believe in yourself!!

Jchell: Anything else you would like to say?
Danni: Yes, I would like to say to all the other designers entering this industry and the plus size models that no matter how hard it gets please keep going and never stop. Summer Shopping At Target.

After running a few errands my daughter and I stopped in Target to check out their summer clothes. After looking at an array of clothes I found a skater dress that stood out among the other different styles that were displayed. This skater dress has an unique triangle design and an eye catching color scheme. I told my daughter to try on the dress and I was going to do a quick styling session with her. After few minutes in the dressing room she comes out with the dress on. The dress looked nice on the hanger and it fit nicely on my daughter. So, here are a few ways to wear the skater dress.

Style 1: I paired the dress with orange sandals, skinny gold patent belt, and aviator sunglasses. This style is simple and can be worn doing “me time” things.

Style 2: I paired the dress with black ankle strap pumps and a black clutch (not from Target). This style is very simple and chic and ready for date night on the patio of your favorite restaurant.

Style 3: I paired the dress with a gold beaded headband, aviator sunglasses, skinny red patent belt, gold tote bag, and coral wedges. This style is great for hanging out with the girls or being fashionable running errands.

Personally, I love shopping at Target. They have trendy styles for plus size women. Another good thing about shopping at Target are their sales. When I visited the current sale is 20% off shoes and sandals. Over all my visit was great and enjoyed doing a quick style on my daughter. So, Divas stop by Target and check out their summer clothes, shoes and accessories who knows what deals you might find.

Mossimo dress (2X): 29.99
Aviator sunglasses: 16.99
Gold beaded headband: 12.99
Merona gold tote bag: 32.99
Orange sandals: 13.59 sale price
Coral wedges: 23.99 sale price
Black ankle strap pumps: 23.99 sale price
Skinny red/gold patent belt: 12.99
Total cost of outfit: 167.52
